Timber Veneer

Timber flooring used to be just part of the normal building process and almost every home had timber floors.

Woodgrain_4Not so today! Now timber may be a "floor covering" - engineered for overlaying as a veneer - installed on top of a concrete or another wooden base.
Because timber is natural, your floor will reflect nature's own light and dark variations in the colours in a combination of young and old timber from various parts of trees. Together these contribute to timber's natural warmth and richness, imparting quality and luxury to any room.
A timber floor will also last a lifetime - but how well it lasts and looks will depend on location, use and the kind of footwear to which it is subjected. A "soft or no outdoor footwear inside" policy will help retain a new look much longer. Being a natural product, timber can be marked and scratched by high heels, boots, or frequently moved heavy furniture.
Once installed, timber flooring will initially darken - providing a dramatic look to your environment. But shade lines can appear when subjected to harsh sunlight and particularly where the floor is covered with rugs or furniture. Ask your Flooring First consultant about care - it's crucial to the long life looks of the surface.
Which timber flooring is best for your project? There are varying thicknesses and finishes with different attributes ranging from economical extremely hard 7mm and 8mm flooring with a 1mm veneer that's ideal for most surfaces - to 14mm flooring with a 3mm veneer. Discuss the options and attributes of each with us in store.
Installation, especially for large areas, is best handled by one of our professionals. But provided you have good wood working skills and some experience, you can handle some installation yourself following the instructions with every pack.
