Carpet types
Carpet can come in a variety of types including wool, polyester, polypropylene and nylon, each with their own unique features.
Wool:
Pure, natural, and always fashionable, looks good, and offers low flammability and high resistance to wear.
Polyester:
High resistance to water and dirt, and generally withstands insect attacks very well. A man-made fibre not always easiest to clean.
Polypropylene:
Hardwearing carpet with high water, stain and insect resistance. Can withstand rigorous cleaning processes. Not always suitable for areas exposed to harsh sunlight. Often used in carpet tiles and “grass” look carpets.
Nylon:
Stain and soiling resistant, hard wearing, highly resistant to water and insects. Often blended with wool to increase abrasion resistance in lighter carpets.
